Major Mahjong News

The Bamboo Room will open on Camp Bowie this summer
The Bamboo Room will open on Camp Bowie this summer.

The Bamboo Room will open in Fort Worth this summer. It will become the city’s premier mahjong lounge at 6115 Camp Bowie Boulevard, Suite 144. That’s inside the same building where Bella Italia will soon open in the former Fitzgerald’s spot.

The site says it will be a place to shuffle, sip, and play. This will be a place for beginners to learn the popular tile game, shop for mahjong accessories, and spend time with other players.

“Whether you’ve been obsessed for 20 years or you’ve never touched a tile, there’s a seat here for you,” the site says.

The retail collection will feature beautiful tiles and showcase some collaborations with artists. They’ll have open play, private sessions, lessons with (patient) teachers, and mahjong tournaments.

“The Bamboo Room was built by a mother and daughter who believe mahjong is one of the most beautiful ways to spend time with the women you love,” the owner said in a Mother’s Day post.

Lucchese Bootmaker reopens in Willow Park with a larger showroom.

Lucchese Bootmakers is holding its grand reopening celebration at its new space in The District at Willow Park this week. The week will include festivities like line dancing on Wednesday, May 13; Music Bingo on Thursday; and participation in the larger Willow Park Palooza on Friday, featuring a performance by The Texas Heat Band.

The original store there opened in early 2022 in a more compact space. Now the bootmaker has expanded its site as well as merchandise offerings. Lucchese was one of the early sponsors of The District’s green space and performance stage, which has proved to be a big draw for the small town that borders Fort Worth and Aledo.

Crate & Barrell returns this June to Southlake Town Square.

Finally, Crate & Barrel has plans to return to Southlake Town Square soon. It is anticipated to open this summer at 321 State Street. June 25 is the big day. The new 19,000-square-foot store will occupy the former Market by Macy’s space near the post office.

The brand closed its previous location in Town Square back in 2011. The return is one step closer to Fort Worth, and the only location for the modern housewares and furniture store in Tarrant County.
