Fort Worth is embracing its star turn as Taylor Sheridan has put down firm roots for his film production here. On the heels of his second season of Landman, The Madison also utilizes Fort Worth as its backdrop. Here are the locations you’ll recognize in Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison.

The Fort Worth Film Commission is happy to be at the forefront of this burgeoning movement to make Texas the “third coast” for filming. And, Fort Worth its hub.

The latest Taylor Sheridan series, The Madison, has been well received, and while it follows his winning formula, it’s also a bit of a departure. Many of Sheridan’s blockbuster series, beginning with Yellowstone, revolve around dysfunctional family dynamics as well as a deep love of the land ― the place itself becomes a lead character.

The Madison is no different in that respect. But, it’s a bit slower-paced, even more cinematic (if that’s possible), and the dialogue is not filled with rapid-fire one-liners. It’s a more intimate revealing of the characters themselves.

While The Madison is set in New York City and along the banks of the Madison River in Montana, the series was partly filmed in and around the Fort Worth area. That includes Sheridan’s SGS Studios located in the Alliance area of town. It’s the largest film and production studio in the state of Texas.

Sets were created inside SGS Studios featuring the fish camp cabins along the banks of the Madison River in Montana. In other shots, little ole’ Cowtown stands in for the cultured, high society world of the Clyburns in New York. Street scenes were shot in downtown Fort Worth, and our museums, coffee shops, and restaurants served as (often subtly blurred) backdrops.

To avoid spoiler alerts, I’ll just say, Michelle Pfeiffer (who plays Stacy Cyburn) and Kurt Russell (who plays Preston Clyburn) are the matriarch and patriarch of the family. Their relationship is taken to a new level of loyalty and understanding following a death.

Paramount + describes it this way: “Introducing the Clyburn family, the series unfolds across two distinct worlds – the beautiful landscape of the Madison River valley in central Montana and the vibrant energy of Manhattan ― as it examines the ties that bind families together.”

The Madison is Sheridan’s most intimate work to date and a heartfelt study of grief and human connection.” According to Paramount +, it’s “a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation.”

The Madison is ready to binge in its entirety. The six-episode debut season of The Madison premiered globally on Saturday, March 14, with the first three episodes. The final three episodes premiered on Saturday, March 21.

This March, scenes for The Lioness were being shot around town as well.

Next up will be Dutton Ranch, a Yellowstone spin-off which was largely shot in Ferris, Texas. It will be a reprise of Beth Dutton ( played by Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler ( played by Cole Hauser). Not long to wait, as it will debut on May 15.
