SweatHouz is a contrast therapy studio new to Fort Worth. Going from an infrared sauna into a vitamin-C shower before a cold plunge is a wild ride, but the therapeutic benefits can be noticeable. This is what we learned from our first visit to SweatHouz.
Fort Worth’s new contrast therapy studio is called SweatHouz (SWTHZ), is located next door to Jason’s Deli at 6252 Camp Bowie Boulevard. It’s a destination for wellness and recovery, and it opened in late April. This is the first studio to bring this innovative contrast therapy to town, but it’s already popular from Dallas to Frisco, where you’ll find six locations. Like other recent additions to Fort Worth’s wellness offerings, contrast therapy brings something new.
It’s one private suite where you’ll experience two temperatures and three experiences. It’s an immersive and customizable experience designed for both relaxation and rejuvenation. You go from hot to cold and repeat the cycle for best results.
What is Contrast Therapy?

You begin in the infrared sauna where temperatures can be adjusted to suit you ― suggested anywhere between 140 degrees and 170 degrees. It’s designed for deep detoxification and muscle recovery. While traditional saunas heat the air around you, an infrared sauna heats your body directly, so it’s more effective at a lower temperature. They suggest that between 40 to 45 minutes of your one-hour session be relaxing (and sweating) in the sauna. Additional benefits include mood and metabolism boosting, pain management, and muscle recovery.
After about a 20-minute session, you’ll rinse off in the vitamin-C shower. Your pores will be open and able to make the best use of the vitamin-infused shower. It will cool you down and rejuvenate your skin. It removes chlorine from the water and replenishes skin and hair.
Then you’ll submerge in a 50-degree cold plunge tub for between two and five minutes, before returning to the sauna to warm up again. Added benefits of a cold plunge include the release of endorphins, improved sleep quality, improved circulation, and reduced inflammation.
Red Light Therapy Adds Another Dimension To Your Wellness Routine

You can make an appointment for red light therapy along with your contrast treatment or come in for a stand-alone red light session.
It looks like a tanning bed, but red light therapy’s main benefit is improving your skin. It reduces inflammation and redness, along with fine lines and wrinkles, by boosting collagen and elastin production.
The benefits are more than just skin-deep. Red light therapy is also great for athletes and recovery. It alleviates chronic and acute pain, increases muscle energy production, and reduces oxidative stress and inflammation. Each 14 to 16-minute session can target different issues from fat reduction and acne to overall wellness.
Know Before You Go For Your First Session at SweatHouz

Bring a water bottle to fill at the beverage station. SweatHouz even has a variety of electrolyte packs for purchase, if you like. Your first session comes with a complimentary water bottle and a choice of electrolytes.
Bring a book or AirPods as the TVs connect to Bluetooth so you can watch a show, or listen to a podcast or music while in the sauna. Rooms are private, so you can bring a swimsuit and loose-fitting clothing for after your session. Towels are provided in your suite along with a wet clothing bag.
The first time at SweatHouz is a sensory avalanche. Especially the cold plunge. You are going to feel like Rose and Jack after the Titanic went down. You’ll feel like you got hit by an iceberg (it takes your breath away), and then you find yourself clinging onto a raft for dear life ― counting down the seconds on the wall clock until you achieve your goal. My goal was just to make it two minutes both times I cycled through the cold plunge. Mission accomplished!
SweatHouz is open seven days a week, so it fits into your schedule. A single session of contrast therapy is $60, or $25 for your introductory session. And, red light therapy runs $50 per session, with a $25 introductory session. You can also save money by purchasing a pack of sessions or by becoming a member.
