Taylor Sheridan and Paramount + Riding High With Landman and 1923

More Series And Spin-Offs Are Already Underway ― Some Filming in Fort Worth

It all started with Yellowstone ― Taylor Sheridan’s juggernaut. Now that the second half of the long-awaited Season Five of Yellowstone has finally completed, it’s time to turn our attention to the ever-expanding Yellowstone Universe.

Sheridan’s new series Landman became the No.1 Paramount+ original ever ― series or movie. And, Fort Worth was watching. Fort Worth fans were on the edge of their seats, as local landmarks and under-the-radar filming locations were revealed week after week.

In fact, Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm was viewed by a whopping 14.9 million households through its first four weeks alone. That ranks Landman just ahead of Sheridan’s other mega-hits including Tulsa King, Lioness, and The Agency.

Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, Landman took fans behind the scenes of the oil business with its “story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”

Fort Worthians will be on the lookout for mega-stars to be back in “The Fort” when filming gets underway on Season Two of Landman.

The Second Season of 1923 Gets Underway

No one can deny that Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions, MTV Entertainment Studios, and 101 Studios have created hit after hit, and a winning formula. The second season of 1923 premiered on Sunday, February 23, exclusively on Paramount+. It has not been filmed in and around Fort Worth.

Starring Academy Award winner Helen Mirren and Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford, the second season of 1923 continues the prequel saga to the Dutton family and the founding of The Yellowstone Ranch. Watch 1923 Season 2 trailer HERE.

Paramount + teases, “A cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob (Ford) and Cara (Mirren) back at Dutton ranch,” according to Paramount +. “With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer (Sklenar) embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra (Schlaepfer) sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.”

Fort Worth Becoming The Third Coast

While the film industry has long been centered in New York and Los Angeles, Fort Worth is getting used to celebrity sightings and making way for film crews, as Taylor Sheridan has found plenty of locations in and around his hometown to be ideal for shooting his prolific series.

While Yellowstone was not shot here, the final season did have cameos of Sheridan’s own 6666 Ranch and Bosque Ranch. His 1883 made the historic Stockyards look their age (taking Fort Worthians back in time), and both Lioness and Landman have brought Hollywood heavyweights to town for filming.

Most recently, three-time Oscar nominee, Michelle Pfeiffer was filming the next Yellowstone spin-off The Madison in and around The Fort Worth Club last fall. Pfeiffer will be both starring in and executive producing the new series.

According to Variety: “The Madison joins “Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923 — while more series set in the television universe are in development.”

That means more series to enjoy, and more Fort Worth filming locations to spot.
