The tiny town of Ferris, Texas (population 4,200) broke some big-time news for Yellowstone fans in early August. It seems that our favorite characters will, in fact, live on. Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), along with Carter (Finn Little), will be filming a new spin-off series in and around Ferris. Here’s everything we know about the new series by Taylor Sheridan. Welcome to The Dutton Ranch.

The City of Ferris first announced, “The production will highlight the charm, versatility, and visual appeal of the community, positioning Ferris on a national stage and capturing its unique character for audiences around the world.”

They followed up with an August 21 confirmation from 101 Studios that Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little are attached to the yet unnamed project. (More on that later).

In recent days, other outlets, including Deadline, have added another Hollywood A-Lister to the cast of this Beth and Rip reprise ― Annette Benning.

While many outlets ran with the name “Rio Palo” for this Ferris-filmed series, Woman’s World begs to differ: “Confirmed by a representative from 101 Studios, the series is not called Rio Palo, leaving the title to remain a mystery. Regardless of which show they’re filming, the people of North Texas and the surrounding areas are excited about what’s to come.”

Deadline confirmed the name as The Dutton Ranch on Monday, August 25, in their exclusive coverage.

There are four other confirmed projects with Yellowstone ties. 6666 (pronounced four sixes) will highlight the historic Texas ranch that Taylor Sheridan now owns, and might include castaway Jimmy Hurdstrom (played by Jefferson White). His character first introduced 6666 Ranch (which was established in Guthrie, Texas, in 1870) to the rest of the country.

Y: Marshalls will continue the story of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). The Madison, where Stacy Clyburn (played by Michelle Phieffer), makes some big moves, ranging from New York to Montana. The show had some scenes filmed in Fort Worth already. And, 1944, which should follow the next generation of the Dutton family’s progress after the events of 1923.

From his multitude of converging film projects (Landman season 2 is set to air soon), to his newly announced Fort Worth production studio hub at AllianceTexas, the actor, rancher, writer, and producer has a lot of irons in the fire.

Add to that his passion for cutting and performance horses, and hosting his own Brazos Bash cutting competition at his Bosque Ranch Headquarters. Plus, his first concert, Bosque Ranch Live, is set for September 13 from noon to 11 pm.

According to Billboard, Bosque Ranch Live will showcase three country artists who have had their music featured on Sheridan’s shows: Drayton Farley, Kaitlin Butts, and Jackson Dean. If you don’t think Taylor Sheridan’s endorsement amounts to much in the music industry, just ask Laney Wilson. Her notoriety skyrocketed after being showcased on Yellowstone.

Oh, and you can add restaurateur to his resume, too. Taylor Sheridan’s 6666 Ranch’s beef is being served at his Cattlemen’s Steak House in The Stockyards. The historic haunt has undergone a dramatic revamp, including its own private club.

Next stop, For The Dutton Ranch ― Ferris, Texas

While tiny Ferris is a quaint Texas town, known mostly for its Ferris Brick Company, it’s proud to become a film set. The mineral clay bricks of Ferris Brick Company have spread their fame far and wide. It’s still known as “The Town That Bricked The World.” Now it will be known as the site of The Dutton Ranch.

“This is a proud and fun moment for Ferris,” said City Manager Brooks Williams, in a statement. “Ferris helped build Texas and the nation. Ferris bricks are in streets, schools, and courthouses across this country. But that is just part of who we are. Ferris has never settled for being one thing. This city has evolved, adapted, and grown.”

“Paramount’s decision to film here is one more chapter in that story. It affirms that a place with roots can still move forward, that a city shaped by history can also shape what comes next. We are proud of what this means for Ferris and proud to show others what we already know. We are just getting started.”
