Taylor Sheridan’s Landman recently wrapped filming on season two. Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, and Ali Larter, it’s been a huge hit. Much of the Paramount+ series was filmed on location in Fort Worth and its surroundings. They announced today that Landman Season Two will premiere on Sunday, November 16.

Locals are getting used to minor inconveniences like traffic detours and street closures for Sheridan’s local shoots.

We love seeing local landmarks like the set of The Patch Café on Camp Bowie West, surrounded by lighting and brimming with activity on film days. Being in the presence of A-listers has folks craning their necks to sneak a peek at the stars on set. They watch from a safe distance, while enjoying a burger across the street at JR’s Hamburgers or trying to get a table at the new and improved Margie’s Italian Gardens, which reopened in April just in time for filming.

Landman Landed Big With Fans

Who would have thought the story about a rough and tumble land man trudging around Midland, fighting cartels in between cigarettes, would have drawn such a crowd? Well, Billy Bob Thornton for one. He scored a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Landman as Tommy Norris.

While the Oscar winner is superb in the lead role of Landman, he’s hardly the only draw. The series was created by Oscar Nominee Taylor Sheridan (who has Yellowstone, 1923, 1883, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves to his credit, plus the upcoming NOLA King, starring Samuel L. Jackson).  Landman also stars Oscar Nominees Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, and Sam Elliott, plus Ali Larter and Jacob Lofland.

Landman drew 35 million global streaming viewers for its premiere episode, and the show set new records for Paramount+, including becoming the network’s No.1 original series ever on the service, as well as the No.1 engagement driver, and the No. 1 on households streaming.

Fort Worth Stands In As a West Texas Oil Drilling Boomtown

Produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions, Landman is set in West Texas.

It’s the tale of “fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics,” they say.

One cast member from season one knows just how daunting the oil and gas business can be. Jon Hamm’s character of Monte Miller, the patriarch of the M-Tex Oil dynasty, didn’t make it out alive.

The series is co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. Many of the boomtown oil barons that built Sheridan’s real-life hometown serve as inspiration in this modern-day tale. The lively characters Sheridan creates (from ex-wives to cartel bosses and ambitious, yet uninitiated lawyers) all play their role. Oil is still big business, and it remains a dangerous game.

Fort Worth can’t wait to see what local locations Sheridan chose to spotlight this season, when it airs on November 16.
