As Fort Worth natives, we are so accustomed to having everything at our fingertips that sometimes we overlook the city’s jewels. And, our new residents have plenty to learn about our city. Make 2026 the year you resolve to utilize all of the amenities and explore areas of town that you might have overlooked. If you haven’t made your New Year’s Resolutions yet, we have some suggestions to embrace all Fort Worth has to offer.
Try Something New
Trinity Flyfest is a great way to pick up a new hobby.
It’s easy to get stuck in a routine. This is the year to try something new. Learn to fly fish at Trinity Flyfest ― a free event held along the banks of the Trinity River. Liven up your meal prep with a cooking class at either The Cookery or Central Market. Kick up your boots at Billy Bob’s with line dancing or two-step lessons. Learn to play Mahjong in the Billet Room at Bowie House. The possibilities are endless.
Indulge In The Arts This Year
The Phillip Johnson designed Amon Carter is always a thrill for visitors and locals alike.
From visual to performing arts, Fort Worth has an embarrassment of riches. Visitors come from all over to enjoy what locals all too often take for granted. Make this the year you indulge yourself. The Fort Worth Opera is the oldest in the state. Go see an opera performance. If the symphony, orchestra, or even a Broadway musical is more your speed. Make it a point to go.
Check the upcoming exhibition calendars of our world-class museums (The Kimbell, The Carter, The Modern, Sid Richardson, Museum of Science and History, Cowgirl Museum). Enjoy the art and architecture and attend a lecture, film, or guided tour.
Get Outdoors & Soak Up Fort Worth
Main Street Arts Festival is a yearly magnet for art lovers.
Hit the Trinity Trails, on foot or on a bike; this is one of the city’s most beloved natural wonders. The Fort Worth Botanic Gardens is constantly evolving ― adding new plantings, new gardens, and dotting the landscape with art installations, making every trip a revelation.

We all have our favorites, but plan to try a new cuisine, or a new restaurant or bar in an area of town you don’t always frequent. Explore some of the best new restaurants, or sit and soak on the best patios in town. Try a new coffee bar for a change; Fort Worth has a lot to choose from. There’s a world of flavors and cuisines to enjoy.
Take a tour and taste what our breweries and distilleries are pouring these days. Or head to a speakeasy, bar, or lounge that you’ve never set foot in before. You’ll be amazed at what’s out there.
Explore The City Like a Tourist
The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the top rated in the country.
Fort Worth is one of the top tourist destinations in the state of Texas ― and for good reason. Resolve to take advantage of some of our unique offerings and explore your city through the eyes of a tourist.
When’s the last time you visited the Fort Worth Zoo? It’s one of the top zoos in the country, always an epic adventure, and not just for young families. Mozy down to The Stockyards for some people watching, shopping, and great food and drink. Spend an afternoon at the Fort Worth Water Gardens, designed by none other than architect Phillip Johnson.
