June is really heating up for foodies, from big opening announcements to some shocking closures. Here is another round of Fort Worth Food News for June to keep you in the know.
Chef Kent Rathbun Joins On The Rocks in Burleson
After 42 years of delighting regulars at La Bistro Italian Grill (one of the best restaurants in Hurst), it has spawned a new concept that is heading to Burleson. That’s right, Burleson, once the land of little other than chain restaurants, is getting some big upgrades these days.
The new opening will be On The Rocks Italian Bistro. It has scored a big-name chef as well. Chef Rathbun, they say, “has shaped the Texas culinary scene for decades and having him onboard with us at On the Rocks is not only an honor but a true “Get” for Burleson’s growing dining scene.”
And it’s all true. Rathbun is a four-time James Beard nominee and an Iron Chef Champion and founder of both Abacus and Jasper’s in Dallas. On the Rocks Italian Bistro will open at 135 West Ellison in Old Town Burleson. It promises perfectly prepared steaks, fresh pasta, and seafood.
Hanabi Ramen & Izakaya Opens in Haltom City

Located at 3980 NE Loop 820, Suite 500, this marks one of the first satellite shops and restaurants to debut in the massive and highly anticipated H Mart build-out. The timeline for the completion of construction at the H Mart property is now slated for September, followed by stocking and staff training before opening. So hopefully we’ll welcome it sometime next fall.
Hanabi Ramen is a local go-to for izakaya-style dining and top-notch Japanese ramen. The new Haltom City opening marks its fourth location. Other locations are found in Carrollton, Denton, and the Museum District of Fort Worth.
Teddy Wong’s Bestows Dumplings on Weatherford

This is the second outpost of Teddy Wong’s. The original opened in a former Le’s Wok spot, at the intersection of Rosedale and Lipscomb in Fort Worth’s Southside. The newest to open is a bit farther West. All the way to Weatherford at 102 Houston Avenue. That’s near the courthouse, across Main Street from Zeno’s and the cool, new Chapel Bar.
Teddy Wong’s Dumplings & Wine serves some of the best handmade dumplings, dim sum, and Chinese dishes around. Chinese is hard to find, and great Chinese is worth waiting in line for. We suggest you get your reservations before dropping in, or you’ll be doing just that.
Brooklyn’s Adds Lunch
This June, Brooklyn’s added something new to South Main Village. Its lunch service officially began on June 9. The menu is available from 11 am to 3 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The eclectic menu ranges from orange lemongrass shrimp scampi to skewered Monster Kebabs.
Closures of Note

Fixe Southern House Closes in Clearfork
One of the original restaurants to open in The Shops at Clearfork in 2018, Fixe Southern House is by Austin-based Chef James Robert. Sadly, Fixe Southern House has announced its closure. Roberts’ low-country, Louisiana-inspired menu led with Texas redfish, fried chicken and those to-die-for biscuits. The original location in Austin is rolling on, and Fort Worth has already been removed from the website.
Adios On The Border After Four Decades
After 44 years, the Dallas-based Mexican chain has announced it will close. On the Border first opened in 1982. The original location arrived in October of that year on the corner of Knox and Travis streets in Dallas, Texas.
“On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina has made the difficult decision to move forward with a significant transition in its restaurant operations, which will include the closing of company-owned locations by end of day Friday, June 12, 2026,” according to a company statement. “This decision follows a thorough evaluation of the business and was not made lightly. We are currently evaluating the future of the On The Border brand and exploring a range of strategic options.”
