Fort Worth-based interior designer and HGTV darling, Grace Mitchell, has been busy with renovations on rental homes in Round Top. Now we find out, she’s also been busy writing her first book. The interior designer, home renovator, and star of HGTV’s One of a Kind, will release her debut book, Storied Style: The Book About YOU, Your Story, and How to Design Your Home with It, with Harper Horizon on October 28.
“Since the premiere of her television show, Grace Mitchell has received thousands of messages from fans wondering how to tell their unique stories in how they design their homes,” Harper Horizon says. “This design book equips readers to make it happen.”
Grace’s goal is to embrace the story a home is meant to tell. The result is “a home reflective of the people living in it.” Rather than a cookie-cutter one-size-fits-all or a vision that represents the interior designer’s particular preference.
The new book will unfold twenty thoughtfully photographed projects, some favorites and some never-before-seen reveals ― including Grace’s own home and garden in Fort Worth.
The Evolution of Grace Mitchell’s Design

Grace Mitchell developed her story-driven approach to design from the very start. She began her design journey in 2009, curating rare and character-rich vintage furniture. In 2011, she launched A Storied Style. The website captured the highs and lows of home renovation. It caught on ― huge. So big, that HGTV came a-calling.
“Grace’s breakout HGTV series, One of a Kind, showcased her ability to merge history, heart, and high design — and introduced millions to her infectious enthusiasm and unique vision,” according to Harper Horizon.
Her work has been featured in prestigious home décor publications, including House Beautiful, Elle Décor, Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Living, Domino, HGTV Magazine, Vintage Remade Magazine, and Country Living Magazine.

A regular at Round Top, as so many designers are, Grace has met her fellow HGTV alum, Leanne Ford, to soak up the inspiration for many years now. The place is inspiring. A tiny town filled to the brim with fine antique meccas and fields filled with one-of-a-kind treasures just waiting to be explored and sifted through.
Mitchell and Ford revealed the first of three rental properties they have planned to create together in Round Top last September (2024). Her Instagram feed showcased the wild ride of finding and filling their rental properties with a bit of whimsy and magic.
Many of the details and styling touches were sourced right there in Round Top.
Storied Style Will Showcase Her Career & Provide Inspiration
Storied Style – Grace Mitchell set to release her first book with Harper Horizon.
“I’m so excited to put this book in people’s hands,” Grace Mitchell says. “That’s when the real fun begins. You may hear how important it is to have your story in your home, but no one ever tells you how to do it — until now.”
“Storied Style is the answer to this question, where, page by page and photograph by photograph, I outline the process I have used for the last fifteen years in my client homes and in my own, which I’m thrilled to reveal for the first time. Your home is the place to be free, to express yourself, and to share your storied style.”
Instead of fashioning your home around the latest trends, which come and go, “your home can be interesting, beautiful, timeless, and best of all, memorable, by centering it around you,” they say.
Storied Style will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook with Grace narrating.
