Fort Worth’s suburbs are growing fast. And they are hungry for more. As our footprint expands, so do the tasty new eateries that are flocking to the area. Here are some of the stand-out restaurants opening all around Fort Worth this October.

Heim Barbecue

Heim Barbecue is about to get smoking in Weatherford.

Weatherford is about to taste the original bacon burnt ends and farm-to-smoker barbecue. Heim is coming to town. They say it is anticipated to open in late October or early November. You’ll find it at 1920 South Main Street, or you could just follow your nose. This will be the fourth location for Fort Worth-based Heim. They currently run the original on Magnolia Avenue, one in the River District, and another on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.

Cork & Pig Tavern

Likewise, Cork & Pig Tavern is in hiring and training mode for its newest location in Shops at Willow Park. It joins another new addition, Rotolo’s Craft Pizza, and MELT Ice Creams, among others. The concept by chefs Felipe Armenta, John Nestor, Virginia Dalbeck, and Ed Buenaventura first opened in San Angelo. Now they have locations in Odessa, Irving, Midland, Abilene, and Southlake, featuring a wood-grilled menu.

This health-focused chain will also join the Shops at Willow Park soon, which is owned and operated by the same Wilks Development responsible for The Harden and Public Market. The eatery, founded by husband-and-wife duo Don and Evonne Varady in 2013, offers prepared meals to go, smoothies, and grab-and-go options.

Coco Shrimp

Coco Shrimp has opened its newest location in Mansfield.

Mansfield is the newest home to this Hawaiian-style shrimp basket sensation. It’s now open at 2301 East Broad Street. They have opened nine locations so far, mostly in Tarrant County. Their shrimp comes in tacos and on rice-based plates, in rich flavors of butter garlic, sweet and spicy, or traditional coconut battered, just to name a few.

Burleson is getting a Fuego Tortilla Grill. It will be located in the old Taco Cabana building at 955 North Burleson Boulevard. The menu is college town approved ― with popular locations in College Station, Waco, San Marcos, and San Antonio so far, plus another headed to Fayetteville, Arkansas, soon. This will be the first in the DFW area.  The fast casual is known for unique tacos and bowls, featuring fresh, hand-made tortillas, of course. The I-Che-Wa-Wa taco, for instance, features fried chicken, bacon, and roasted hatch chiles.
