Welcome to Fort Worth Digital Diary, where the BEST begins.

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden celebrated the groundbreaking for the Baker Martin Family Garden, in mid-November. The launch of the family garden marks a significant milestone in the Garden’s ambitious 20-year Master Plan.

More than 100 guests joined Mayor Mattie Parker, along with the Family Garden Campaign Co-Chairs Laura and Greg Bird, and local philanthropist Louella Martin to celebrate the garden designed with children and families in mind.

  • Thematic Zones: From sun, moon, and stars to earth art, each zone offers a story to discover.
  • Central Water Feature: A 150-foot-long creek for safe, interactive play among Texas limestone bluffs and native plants.
  • Texas Pond: A living classroom for ecological learning, and home to amphibians, fish, and dragonflies.
  • Bird and Pollinator Gardens: Designed to attract native species, providing rich educational experiences.
  • Open Play Areas: Expansive lawns encourage physical activity and promote a healthy lifestyle.
  • Discovery Center: A LEED-certified space for educational programs, complete with rotating children’s books.
  • Accessibility and Comfort: No additional entry fees, family restrooms, dedicated parents’ room, flexible seating, and shaded areas ensure inclusivity for all visitors.

The Baker Martin Family Garden design will be led by Terra Design Studios, with a track record of just this kind of family garden vision. The new garden is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.

Butterflies in the Garden

Spring Into The Garden

Butterflies in the Garden returns from March 1 through April 30 ― presented by Central Market. The exhibit features “thousands of exotic and native butterflies, fluttering gracefully among lush greenery and vibrant tropical blooms within the FWBG’s Rainforest Conservatory.”

From the delicate transparency of the Glass Wing to the vivid splendor of the dramatic Blue Morpho, you’ll be captivated by a variety of butterfly species hailing from Central and South America, Africa, Asia, and even local regions. It’s a springtime experience not to be missed in Fort Worth.

And, there are three chances to enjoy Blooms & Beats this spring ― with events scheduled each month this March, April, and May.

The Garden will be full of spring blooms, live music, and local food trucks at this family-friendly event, combining the beauty of nature with the joy of music and local flavors. Listen to live music performances by talented local artists, indulge in some of Fort Worth’s favorite food trucks, play fun yard games, and relax with a selection of adult beverages under the stars.

It will be an unforgettable night ― making the most of shoulder-season weather while we can. Tickets can be purchased online at fwbg.org.
