Real Chinese dumplings, decadent burger creations, and a new wine bar all lead off this round of Fort Worth restaurant news for September. We’ll spend time in Weatherford, Arlington, Keller, and Mineral Wells ― giving you the scoop on what’s open and what’s still to come.
One of Fort Worth’s rare Chinese offerings, Teddy Wongs Dumplings and Wine, the dumpling restaurant on Rosedale, is always packed (no wonder with its snug dining and parking). Now it’s expanding, but not to a larger location in Fort Worth; it’s headed west to Weatherford.
It will be “opening a location on the Square in downtown Weatherford, taking over the space at 102 Houston Ave., that was previously occupied by Italian restaurant Zeno’s,” according to CultureMap.
Led by Chef Patrick Ru of Bushi Bushi in Dallas. His dim sums and dumplings, like the crab and pork soup dumplings, are delicate flavor bombs. The menu leads with dumplings, but its Mains That Wok section is full of traditional Chinese dishes like Mongolian Beef and Orange Chicken ― perfect for sharing with the table, family style.
Rodeo Goat Arlington is now open with the Ozzmosis breakfast themed burger creation.
Another Fort Worth-first ― Rodeo Goat, the stellar burger joint in Artisan Circle, has added a new location as well. It’s Rodeo time for Arlington, with its new Rodeo Goat now open at 333 East Division Street. It is one of 10 current locations in North Texas, with one in Houston.
The burger creations are so epic, they even have a regular battle of the burger to see which new creation gets added to the permanent menu. One current offering is the Ozzmosis with a beef and breakfast sausage patty, topped with a totor tot cak, bacon, fried egg, American cheese, Hollandaise sauce, and chives, plus raspberry jam ― making it the ultimate breakfast burger.
Just Love Coffee Cafe opened its newest location recently in Arlington.
Another Arlington newbie: a Tennessee-based coffee shop has landed in Arlington at 1300 South Bowen Road, Suite 160. The newest location in Texas held its grand opening just before Labor Day. Owners John and Dana Marlin have another location in Grand Prairie.
Along will a full line-up of specialty coffee drinks, the menu features croissant sandwiches, wraps, burritos, and breakfast tacos. But the standout is their “waffled” selection. You can try a waffled omelet ― a “womlette”, in addition to the classic Belgian-style waffle.
Handel’s Ice Cream, the brand serving ice cream since 1945, continues to grow its footprint in Texas with its 15th location, opening in Burleson. The new Handel’s is located at 425 SW Wilshire Blvd. Its grand opening is on Thursday, September 4, with family-friendly fun starting at 11 am.
“Deric and Vanessa Sheriff lead the Burleson shop. Vanessa worked as a paramedic and registered nurse for nearly 20 years before exploring franchising opportunities, while Deric served more than 23 years as a police officer before retiring to join his wife,” according to a release. “Together, they now run Handel’s in Arlington and Burleson, with plans for additional locations.”
Soho Wine Bar Restaurant takes center stage in Keller.
Keller’s Town Center welcomes Soho Wine Bar Restaurant to is expected to 201 Town Center Lane, Suite 1101. This new eatery and wine bar takes over in a space that once housed one of Keller’s first upscale eateries, FnG Eats, which closed in January after a 12-year run. Soho has a curated wine list with international flair, plus a full bar featuring craft cocktails and a special martini menu as well.
The menu, which leans Italian with handcrafted pastas and pizzas, arancini, and chicken Milanese, has even more to explore. There’s an ahi tuna in soy ginger glaze, a grilled hanger steak with chimichurri sauce, and a soba noodle bowl with peanut dressing.

The Center Stage development in Keller welcomed Italian Table at 1520 N. Main Street in mid-August. The homestyle Italian menu ranges from creamy chicken fettuccine alfredo and lobster ravioli to pizzas like the White Wonder pizza. Owner Phil
Doko also owns Lone Star Cafe next door. Other classics on the Italian Table menu include a shrimp scampi, rigatoni ala vodka, and a traditional tiramisu for dessert.
Serving breakfast and lunch, Main St. is back in Keller. Doors are open, beginning Tuesday, September 2, from 7 am to 2:30 pm. The menu ranges from omelets and avocado toast to hearty chicken-fried steak and Monte Cristo sandwiches.
“Welcome to Main St., a locally owned brunch spot off 377 in Keller, formerly home to Main St. Cafe (2008),” according to the website. “Founded by a small family of restaurateurs, Main St. emphasizes in American comfort foods inspired by traditional southern and southwestern dishes.”
Stefon Rishel will take the lead at The Crazy Water Hotel.
