Houston-based El Tiempo didn’t last long at Choctaw Stadium. It arrived in July of 2024, attempting to expand a Houston-based franchise to North Texas, but shuttered earlier this January. It left behind a lovely shell in a well-travelled pedestrian path, just perfect for a new Tex-Mex joint to make a run. Loma by Brandon and Hannah Hurtado  will open this March at Choctaw Stadium.

“Elevated Tex-Mex is coming to the mound,” Brandon Hurtado announced with a social media post.

“Introducing Loma, the first full-service restaurant concept from Brandon and Hannah Hurtado,” the announcement goes on to say.  “Named for the pitcher’s mound, Loma is designed to be your new favorite destination in Arlington’s Entertainment District.”

Loma seems a perfect addition to the areas expanding dining scene. It will join  the likes of Soy Cowboy, Lockhart Smokehouse, Hearsay Arlington, Cut & Bourbon and Farena Italian.

“We will be making changes to make it more intimate,” Brandon Hurtado tells Fort Worth Digital Diary. He says, Loma will reveal fresh paint, new interior lighting, and décor.

Brandon Hurtado began with a food truck in Arlington.

His unique Tex-Mex spin on central Texas-style barbecue has become a real hit. So much so that Hurtado Barbecue now boasts four locations (Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, and Mansfield).

Hurtado Barbecue became a Top 50 Barbecue Joint in Texas Monthly’s 2021 list, and received an Honorable Mention in the most recent 2025 list.

Hurtado Barbecue has become one of the fastest-growing independently owned barbecue brands in the entire state. Additionally, his fan-favorite concession stand is situated inside Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers.

Brandon and Hannah Hurtado say they are shooting to have Loma ready to reveal by Opening Day, which is March 26.

Brandon Hurtado described Loma’s vibe this way:

“By day, it’s the perfect lunch retreat for fans. By night, the lights go down, and the vibes go up for a premier date night experience. Featuring a curated full-service bar and exclusive weekend brunch specials that you won’t want to miss.”

Hurtado described the “elevated Tex-Mex” menu to Fort Worth Digital Diary. “Think Wagyu fajitas and shrimp brochette, with chef-driven rotating features,” he says. “Like chilaquiles divorciados (where half the dish is sauced red and the other half green), Hamachi aguachille, duck confit enchiladas, and tacos de langosta.”

Another new unveiling by Brandon and Hannah Hurtado happened this week as well. Hayters Bar and Lounge on Front Street just rebranded to Rodeo & Rye. It’s now a 90s country bar, featuring a fresh new menu by Hurtado. Rodeo & Rye is situated next door to his Arlington location, so it just made sense to add that to his expanding empire.

Texas Rangers Opening Day just got even more interesting, with the addition of Loma to Arlington’s Entertainment District.
