Everywhere you turn, it seems, you’ll find fresh bagels, and we’ve got the new spots that have arrived and are still on the horizon. Plus, La Loteria returns, Southlake welcomes a new pho and boat noodle spot, and Taco Heads closes its original brick and mortar on Montgomery Street. All that and more in More Fort Worth Food News for November.
Shug’s Bagels will soon take a spot on Camp Bowie.
Cult favorite bagel shop, Shug’s, is coming to town. It’s taking over the former Oasis Liquor store at 5101 Camp Bowie soon. It was founded by native New Yorker, Justin Shugue, and Chef Preston Paine, who is executive chef at Fort Worth’s Crescent Hotel (with Emilia’s and The Blue Room).
There are three current locations, the original at Mockingbird and 75, and another at Lemmon and Oak Lawn in Dallas. There is one more location in New Orleans. The Fort Worth store is not the company’s only addition ― Shug’s is opening a fifth location in Austin soon as well. Customers crave any of the 15 bagel varieties and housemade spreads, plus deli-style sandwiches and breakfast bagel sandwiches.

Another beloved bagel shop is also on the move. Born from a kitchen in Fairlawn, New Jersey, Dan’s Bagels opened its first brick-and-mortar in Trophy Club, Texas, in August of 2021. Dan’s Bagels opened in Fort Worth at the end of October. It’s at 2430 Forest Park Boulevard.
Named one of Yelp’s 2025 Top 10 Bagel Shops in the US and Canada, these are serious bagels. These are East Coast sourdough style. More franchise locations are in the works. Grapevine will open at 2647 Ira E. Woods Avenue soon, and Argyle is getting a taste as well by December. Just like watching animals in the wild, there’s even a live feed Bagel Cam to keep your eye on the current inventory in the bagel case.
At 2120 E Southlake Blvd Ste D in Southlake, you’ll find a brand new Thai and Vietnamese noodle shop. Old Boy Pho and Boat Noodle brings a new taste to Southlake. You can expect “authentic street-style noodles with bold flavors, hearty broths, and the comfort of home in every bowl,” they say.
Start with curry puffs, dumplings, or Tod-Mun fried fish cakes. Soups include fragrant lemongrass Tom Yum, or Boat Noodle with a spiced broth infused with cinnamon, star anise, and roasted herbs. Classic preparations of rice and noodle bowls round out the menu.
There will be a “new Goose” by the New Year. That’s right, Blue Goose is opening this winter at 9005 North Tarrant Parkway in North Richland Hills. Get ready for sizzling fajitas, legendary margaritas, and all the Tex-Mex you love.
It will be the eighth location for the Metroplex-based brand, which currently has one in Grapevine, as well as Fort Worth’s University Park Village. Still family-owned and operated, Blue Goose has found its way into the hearts of families and friends across North Texas for 40 years.
Loteria afternoon tea service adds to the holiday cheer.
This popular Tea Time ritual returns for the holidays. “Treat the family to a one-of-a-kind experience and enjoy Afternoon Tea at La Lotería, Fort Worth’s distinguished members-only private club, just above Paloma Suerte,” Love Management says. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance by calling or texting 817.682.5224. Tea is served Wednesday through Saturday from 2:30 to 4:45 pm, starting at just $70 per person.
Take a break from Christmas shopping to recharge with friends at Afternoon Tea. The experience is available from Friday, November 28, through Saturday, December 20. La Lotería will be serving up “a lavish spread of exquisite teas, delectable sandwiches, and freshly baked scones and pastries.”
The original location of Taco Heads has closed across from Dickies Arena. The funky space was a retrofit of two smaller buildings with a patio planted in between. Owner Sarah Castillo opened her first brick-and-mortar along Montgomery Street after food truck success. She also owns Tinie’s Mexican in South Main Village, Side Saddle Saloon in Mule Alley, and is a founding partner in the ever-expanding La Pulga tequila brand. A second Taco Heads location remains next door to Tecovas Boots in The Stockyards.
“While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re excited to see what’s next for this location and can’t wait to watch it begin a brand-new chapter,” Castillo said in a social post. “Change can be beautiful, and we know great things are ahead.”
A new little corner of Hurley House has arrived, after the departure of its founder, Katherine Sasser. Sasser launched her bakery and entertaining biz on her dining room table. Most recently, in June, the bakery got a major update. But Sasser announced that she was hanging up her apron for now and leaving the business in good hands.
The Corner Shoppe is now open at 1622 Park Place Avenue in Fort Worth, Monday through Friday, 11 am to 5:30 pm. That makes all the goodies more convenient for a TCU and Colonial crowd. The new grab-and-go location will be stocked with “all the meals, market items, and baked goods you have come to know and love.”
