Chef Christian Lehrmann is adding a new watering hole to downtown Weatherford. Chapel Bar is set to open in the historic Cotten-Bratton building this fall. Chapel Bar joins Zeno’s on the Square, Jazz Chapel, and Proper Supply Co. as part of the revitalized Cotten-Bratton building, located at the southeast corner of Weatherford’s Square.

Lehrmann is the co-owner of both Tinie’s Mexican on South Main and Sidesaddle Saloon located in Mule Alley, along with his business partner, Sarah Castillo (who co-owns La Pulga Spirits as well). He’s bringing his energy to Weatherford next with the opening of Chapel Bar. The chef says, this latest venture is an independent concept from his Fort Worth establishments.

The Cotten-Bratton Building is a Weatherford landmark, built in 1883. It also houses the stylish wedding venue known as Jazz Chapel. Lehrmann’s Chapel Bar will be a standalone bar concept, but he is partnering with Jazz Chapel as its preferred catering service for events.

“Lehrmann’s experience in the catering and hospitality industry allows this concept to fully embrace both intimate gatherings and large crowds with consistency and quality,” according to a release.

“Originally built as a furniture store and funeral home, the building has undergone an incredible transformation, reviving its storied architecture and restoring many of its original elements, including hardwood floors and stained glass,” they say.

Chapel Bar will inhabit the former funeral home’s reception entryway, which overlooks the preserved pews and pulpit that served as the funeral home chapel. Modern and local art will be added along with luxe leather seating. He hopes to create “a space that transports guests to 1883 while embodying the refined aesthetic of the modern West in a comfortable Western speakeasy environment.”

On The Menu At Chapel Bar

Guests will enjoy craft cocktails, and a curated selection of wines. To nibble, “Southern-inspired small plates such as buttermilk biscuits with peach preserves and smoked bacon deviled eggs — perfect for a pre-dinner snack or a nightcap.” Lehrmann also plans to partner with local chefs in the community through collaborative supper-club style dinners, wine and spirit dinners, and even a monthly concert series.

“I am excited to bring Chapel Bar to life, a unique concept centered around craft cocktails, tapas-style food, and a vibrant nightlife,” says Christian Lehrmann. “Our partnership with Jazz Chapel as the event space caterer will allow us to host a variety of creative and engaging events. The opportunities this space and partnership provide are endless.”

With so much growth in Fort Worth proper, many local restaurant owners are looking West to Aledo, Willow Park, and Weatherford these days.

Chapel Bar is set to open in mid-November and will announce their opening date and hours of operation on their website.
