Openings, Especially In Grapevine, Top This Round, Along With More Sad Closures In Fort Worth

Grapevine has a lot of food and beverage additions on the horizon. Some will be filling in prime properties in the city. But, food news for June 2025 also holds a few sad closures that are tough to swallow.

Prime Materia opens at Meow Wolf in Grapevine on June 20. Fans of the quirky Meow Wolf now have a real unreal, interactive bar and experience to enjoy. Dubbed the “Adultiverse,” it just gets curiouser and curiouser.

A release touts, “Prime Materia invites visitors into a deeper layer of storytelling, complete with lore-infused elixirs, snackable curiosities, new interactive art, and a curious cast of characters known as the Gizmo_Mancers (a band of alchemical technologists who have mastered the art of brewing concoctions from digital code.)”

It will be, “Equal parts cocktail bar, snack station, and interactive installation, the experience encourages both casual sippers and story-chasers to uncover secrets through custom drink recipes, environmental details, and conversations with the enigmatic Gizmo_Mancer mixologists behind the bar.”

More Food News June 2025 – A new Playa Bowls has dropped anchor in Southlake.

Playa Bowls has dropped anchor at 1151 East Southlake Boulevard, Suite 370, adding a new healthy option to the neighborhood. The New Jersey-based acai bowl eatery now has 300 locations nationwide. Playa Bowls serves healthy, delicious açaí, pitaya, and coconut bowls, plus pressed juices, coffee drinks, and smoothies.

SOHO Wine Bar will arrive at 201 Town Center Lane, Suite 1101, in Keller soon. When it opens, Town Center will add a “bold new take on Italian dining” with a curated wine selection.  For now, all we know is that the wine bar will feature both Italian and seafood on its menu.

Grapevine Adds Newsy Spots Filling In Some Prime Vacancies

Vidorra will add a location in Grapevine soon, bringing its molcajete bowls to bear.

Vidorra ‘Cocina de Mexico’ has announced that it will take over the former Hoffbrau space at 700 West Highway 114, in Grapevine. The popular Mexican eatery has locations in Dallas’ Deep Ellum, Rockwall, Addison, and Grand Prairie. They are currently in expansion mode, with another location planned for Grapevine (marking its first location in Tarrant County), as well as one planned for Mesquite. Its first out-of-state opening will land in Nashville.

At Vidorra, you’ll find Mexican classics like beef birria tacos and fajitas, to their famous molcajete bowls. The bar serves tequila flights and Mexican cocktails, including the signature marg called the Vidoritta.

Landmark Coffee will take over a classic gas station and former winery at 503 S. Main Street, Ste. 100, in Grapevine, according to Community Impact. With a coffee bar and pastry case, owners Brady and Whitney Johnson will add “a community-centered coffee space.”

The Dutch “is taking over the old Fireside Pies spot off the highway,” according to Grapevine Edit. That is at 1285 South Main Street. “From the same local owners behind Mio Nonno in Flower Mound, this place is bringing Italian-American vibes with major style.”

Stelle To-Go Café is “taking over the old Mason & Dixie on Main Street,” the Grapevine Edit says. “The team behind Stella in Southlake is behind this one, and it’s all about fresh, fast, and flavorful. We’re talking Italian coffee, house-made breads, pizza, pastries, and more.”

Vice Burger has closed on Magnolia. The tiny location at 1515 West Magnolia Avenue was a new kind of vegan menu, featuring healthy remakes of guilty pleasures like shakes, fries, and burgers.

It was the brain-child of clean-eating pioneer Charlsye Lewis. Her popular Boulevard of Greens concept took over the Magnolia location first, but struggled to find its audience, so she transitioned it to Vice Burger in November of 2023. Her original location remains at 2700 Horne Street. The vegan burger and fries can now be found there.

Paco’s Mexican Cuisine has closed its Sundance location. According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, “Paco’s, 156 W. Fourth St., closed months after chef “Paco” Islas opened his new concept, Shōgun Taqueria, a fusion restaurant in a former Paco’s location at 1508 W. Magnolia Ave.”

Owner Francisco Islas made the decision to vacate the anchor location overlooking the fountains of Sundance Square as his lease was up. We’ll see what becomes of one of Fort Worth’s best patios. The new focus will be on his new Japanese Mexican menu at Shōgun Taqueria.

Old Neighborhood Grill has closed after a quarter century serving the Park Place neighborhood. The American diner served breakfast, lunch, and early dinners from pancakes and eggs to chicken salad sandwiches and chicken fried steak.

Summer is tough for restaurants with college students and vacationers out of town. So support your favorite local eateries a often as you can.
