This summer there are several notable art exhibits and installations to explore, from the Fort Worth Botanic Garden to our most notable museums. Here is a list of the essential artistic experiences this summer.
Cracking Art at Fort Worth Botanic Garden on view through September 30. Experience this new pop art exhibit by the globally acclaimed Italian art collective, Cracking Art as you wander the garden. It features 80 larger-than-life animal sculptures crafted from regenerated plastic.
Cracking Art will captivate visitors of all ages with vividly colored artworks in the forms of rabbits, elephants, geese, snails, wolves, and swallows as they playfully interact with the natural surroundings. Entrance is included with regular FWBG admission and kids five and under are free.
From Richard Avedon to Scott and Stuart Gentling at the Amon Carter Museum

There’s a lot to explore this summer at the Amon Carter Museum. Richard Avedon at the Carter, presents 40 works from the landmark collection In the American West, four decades after the original exhibition. It will also include archival photographs captured by artist Laura Wilson, who accompanied Avedon on his travels. Wilson will be on hand for an exhibition talk on June 12 as well.
Over 20 artworks by the Fort Worth natives Scott and Stuart Gentling will be on display in Classically Trained: The Gentlings and Music. This includes paintings, drawings exploring the Age of Enlightenment. “This exhibition also features objects and artifacts from the period that inspired the Gentlings’ art making, including a multivolume 18th-century encyclopedia available to the Gentlings in the Carter’s Library as well as a harpsichord that Scott commissioned for his own use.”

Alex Da Corte: The Whale remains on view at The Modern through September 7. Da Corte is globally recognized for his hybrid installations marrying painting, performance, video, and sculpture.
Feeling Color: Aubrey Williams and Frank Bowling, celebrates the work of the two artists, exhibited together as a duo for the first time. This exhibit also marks the inaugural presentation of the museum’s new Platform initiative showing how artists and art histories from across the globe are connected. Feeling Color becomes Platform 1, which showcases two integral artists within the canon of twentieth-century abstraction.

Modern Art and Politics in Germany 1910–1945remains on view atKimbell Art Museumthrough June 22, so catch it while you can. This exhibition brings together more than seventy paintings and sculptures from the collections of the Neue Nationalgalerie, spanning Germany’s dramatic upheaval spanning both World Wars. Check the website for special summer activations including Coffee and Cultures, Happy Hours, and special workshops and Drop-In Studios for children.
The Sid Richardson Museum Goes To The Movies This Summer

The Cinematic West: The Art That Made The Movies is now on view through April of 2026 at The Sid Richardson Museum. The raucous exhibit examines the connection between artists Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, and other artists at the birth of Hollywood’s Western film genre. It explores the landscape, characters and mythology of the West, and how it lit up the silver screen and the imaginations of a new world-wide audience. Paintings, sculptures, and illustrations are featured alongside clips from silent Westerns, and vintage movie posters.
